2 Sam 11:3 So David sent and inquired about the woman. And someone said, "Is this not Bathsheba, the daughter of Eliam, the wife of Uriah the Hittite? (Bathsheba: Not until 12:24 is her name used again. Rather, to intensify the sin of adultery it is emphasized that she was the wife of Uriah. Even the New Testament says, "her of Uriah" (Matt 1:6). Eliam: The father of Bathsheba was one of David's mighty men. Since Eliam was the son of Ahithophel, Bathsheba was Ahithophel's granddaughter. This could explain why Ahithophel, one of David's counselors later gave his allegiance to Absalom in his revolt against David. Uriah: Also, one of David's mighty men. Although a Hittite (Gen 15:20, Ex 3:8, 17,23), Uriah bore a Hebrew name meaning the Lord is my light, indicating he was a worshiper of the one true God.)
